What is this domain roughly worth?

Enter a full domain and get an indicative range, together with how that range was reached: which factors added and which subtracted, one by one.

What the estimate is based on

Five dimensions, all of them checkable on the page. There is no black box.

Ending

Generic endings have the largest pool of buyers, country and specialised ones fewer. Base values come from the usual order of magnitude for each.

Length

Three characters or fewer scores highest, tapering from there; past fourteen characters it drops off sharply.

Characters

Hyphens and digits get misread and mistyped, so each carries an explicit penalty.

Meaning

If the label is a common word, or contains an industry word, a buyer has less to work out and the price is usually higher.

Readability

Vowel ratio and consonant runs decide whether it can be said out loud. Names that can be repeated are worth more.

A range rather than a number

Domain prices are not published, so a range is closer to the truth: it sells near the bottom and relies on the buyer near the top.

Every factor spelled out

Ending, length, hyphens, digits, common words and readability, each with what it added or took away.

Rules you can check

The estimate is calculated from fixed rules and calls no external model, so you can see how it was reached.

Follows the selected currency

Amounts are shown in the currency chosen at the top of the page, dollars, Hong Kong dollars or yuan.

Common questions

Can I actually sell it for that?

No guarantee. The range gives a sense of scale; the real price depends on finding the right buyer, their budget and the negotiation. If you list it, starting near the top of the range and marking it open to offers is a reasonable approach.

Why a range rather than one number?

Domains have no quoted price. A single precise number invites the belief that it is achievable, which it is not. A range is closer to the truth: near the lower end it sells more easily, near the upper end it depends on the buyer.

Does the registration age affect the estimate?

This tool works from the ending, length, characters and readability, and does not use the registration age. A long-held registration is sometimes seen as a plus by buyers, but that is a judgement call on the individual name.

Is a domain containing a trademark worth more?

The opposite. A domain containing somebody else trademark can be transferred away in a dispute procedure, and the money spent on it is not recovered.

Can I use this to set a listing price?

As a starting point, yes, but also look at what comparable domains - similar ending, length and meaning - have actually sold for, then decide the price and whether offers are welcome.
