Registrar and Registrant Information

Who registers your domain, your ICANN registrant rights, and the official references.

This page explains who registers your domain name, what you are entitled to and responsible for as the registrant, and where the authoritative ICANN references live. It supplements the Domain Registration Agreement.

1. Who the registrar is

Your domain name is registered with the relevant registry by Global Domain Group LLC (GDG), a California limited liability company and an affiliate of Dynadot Inc., acting as the sponsoring registrar.

We (Ry Limited, incorporated in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region) are an authorised reseller of GDG. We are not an ICANN-accredited registrar and we do not represent ICANN. The registrar of record for your domain is always GDG, not us.

You can verify this yourself at any time: the Registrar field in the public WHOIS/RDDS record names the actual registrar.

2. The official ICANN references

ICANN publishes two authoritative documents for registrants. As required by ICANN and by our accredited registrar, we provide their official links here, at least as prominently as the links to our own policies:

3. Your main responsibilities

  • Provide accurate, complete and current registration contact details, and update them promptly when they change.
  • Respond to the registrar's verification request within 15 days. If you do not, the domain is suspended from resolving.
  • Keep the email address on your account reachable - renewal reminders and verification notices go there.
  • Make sure the domain and anything running on it is not used for infringement, fraud or abuse, and complies with the Acceptable Use Policy.
  • Renewing is your responsibility. An unrenewed domain stops resolving, can then only be restored during the redemption period by paying the registry's redemption fee, and is finally deleted and released.

4. Your main rights

  • The domain is registered in your name and belongs to you, not to us.
  • You may transfer the domain away at any time. The EPP/auth code is available in your client area or on request; we provide it within 5 days, free of charge.
  • We will not obstruct a transfer while you have no unpaid invoices. ICANN rules prohibit transfers within 60 days of registration or a previous transfer.
  • Where the extension supports it, you may request privacy/proxy protection.
  • You receive renewal reminders and may renew at the published price.
  • If you believe the registrar or we have breached ICANN policy, you may raise it with ICANN: www.icann.org.

5. The registrar's terms bind you too

Dynadot's terms of use, which we are also bound by, apply to your domain registration: https://www.dynadot.com/terms-of-use.html. The notices and consents required by Part II of those terms (its privacy policy) are provided to you to the same standard in our Privacy Policy.

6. Hong Kong matters

  • We are a Hong Kong company and our contract with you is governed by Hong Kong law - see the Terms of Service.
  • If you register a .hk domain, the Domain Name Registration Agreement and Dispute Resolution Policy (HKDRP) of the Hong Kong Domain Name Registration Company Limited (HKDNR) apply in addition.
  • Criminal conduct such as fraud or phishing can be reported to the Hong Kong Police; personal data concerns can be raised with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner for Personal Data (PCPD) at www.pcpd.org.hk.
  • How we handle abuse and copyright complaints is set out in the Abuse and Copyright Policy.

7. Identity enquiries and complaints

Questions, complaints, or a request to know who registers your domain can go to hp@ry.hk. When you ask, our answer will name Global Domain Group LLC (GDG) as the registrar.
