Payment methods

Every way to pay in one place, with one of them marked as the default.

The payment method decides whether an order completes smoothly, and whether an automatic renewal succeeds at the moment it matters.

This page sets out what is available, how each one behaves, and which suits a given situation.

Several options Online payment, bank transfer and account credit
Choose the currency USD, HKD or CNY
Downloadable invoices Available in the client area once paid
Credit as a fallback Auto-renew draws on it first

What it is

  • Online payment goes through a third-party provider and settles immediately, which suits anything time-sensitive.
  • Bank transfer suits larger amounts and company processes that need a transfer record. It is matched manually, so it takes longer.
  • Account credit is funded in advance and spent against orders, which suits accounts with many domains and clustered renewals.
  • What is available for a given order is what checkout shows; it can vary by currency, amount and region.

Notes on bank transfer

Manual matching takes time

  • Put the invoice or order number in the transfer reference, which makes it quick to match.
  • Submit the payment confirmation afterwards so the order can be settled against it.
  • Cross-border transfers take longer to clear, so allow time - particularly where a domain is approaching expiry.
  • Bank charges and intermediary deductions are borne by the payer; if less arrives than the invoice total, the difference still has to be paid.

Near an expiry date, use something that settles immediately. A transfer started on the last day may not be matched in time.

Payment security

We do not need your card number

  • Online payments are completed on the provider page; we do not store your full card number.
  • We never ask for card details, passwords or verification codes by phone, chat or email.
  • If a message says payment failed and asks you to click a link, sign in to the client area and check the order first rather than following the link.
  • For a duplicate charge or anything unexpected, open a ticket with the time, the amount and the order number.

Common questions

Which payment methods are available?

Checkout lists what applies to that order, normally including online payment, bank transfer and account credit. Availability can differ by currency, amount and region.

Can I pay in CNY?

You can switch the site to price in CNY. If your payment account uses another currency, the exchange rate and any conversion fee are set by your bank or provider.

How quickly does payment take effect?

Online payment is usually immediate. A bank transfer needs manual confirmation, so allow for bank and clearing times.

Can the invoice show my company?

Enter the company name, address and tax number in the account details before you need it. If an issued invoice has to change, open a ticket.

Why does the order still show as unpaid?

Either the online payment did not complete, the transfer has not yet been confirmed, or the amount received was less than the invoice total. Check the payment and open a ticket with the time, amount and order number.

Please note

  • We never ask for a full card number, a password or a verification code through any channel. Treat any such request as hostile.
  • Allow time for a bank transfer. A transfer sent on the expiry date may not be matched before the domain moves into its grace period.
