Payment plans

Split a domain purchase into monthly payments, so a buyer does not need the whole sum at once.

Split a larger domain spend across several payments, easing the pressure on one month while keeping the domain usable.

Plans suit buying a domain that costs more than one month of budget allows, or a renewal month where a large batch all falls due at once. Small orders are simpler paid outright.

Instalments The total split across several payments
Domain stays usable Under the terms of the plan

Reminders A bill is raised and a reminder sent each time

What it is

  • A plan splits one order into several payments, each with its own amount and due date, all recorded on the account.
  • While the plan is kept to, the domain remains usable. What is permitted during the plan is set out in the terms for that transaction.
  • Each instalment raises a bill and a reminder before the due date, and missing one can affect the plan.
  • Whether a plan is offered, and with how many instalments, depends on the specific transaction and is shown on the order page.

How it works

01

Check it is offered

The domain or market order page states whether instalments are available.

02

Choose the number

Pick from the amounts and periods shown.

03

Pay each one on time

A reminder is sent before each due date.

04

Complete and take ownership

After the final instalment, the handover is completed as agreed.

Several payments

Spread the total rather than one lump sum.

Bills and reminders

Raised for each instalment.

Visible progress

Paid and remaining amounts on the account.

Terms in writing

Amounts, dates and what happens on default.

Payable from credit

Each instalment can come from account credit.

Handover at the end

The transfer completes as agreed.

Who plans suit

Two situations

  • Buying a costly domain: the price is more than the month allows, and spreading it makes it workable.
  • A clustered renewal month: many domains fall due together and the plan spreads the load.

Small orders are usually simpler paid outright, and there is no instalment to miss.

Three rules to know

Instalments are not unconditional

ItemWhat it means
Pay on timeEach instalment has a due date, and missing one can end the plan
Ownership transfers at the endFor purchase plans the domain normally moves once all instalments are paid
The order terms governInstalments, amounts and any grace arrangement come from that transaction

What happens if you miss one

The cost is higher than it looks

A missed instalment normally starts with a reminder, and continuing to miss it can end the plan. Whether what has already been paid is returned depends on the terms of that transaction. For a purchase plan, ending it usually means losing the domain.

So choose the number of instalments from what you can genuinely pay in an ordinary month, rather than from how small each one looks.

Common questions

Is every domain available on a plan?

No. Whether a plan is offered is decided by the transaction, and the order page shows the available instalments and amounts. If none are shown, that transaction is not available on a plan.

Who owns the domain during the plan?

Ownership and permitted use during the plan are set out in the terms for that transaction, which the page states. Normally the final handover happens once every instalment has been paid.

Can I pay it off early?

Most plans allow the outstanding instalments to be settled early. Check the terms for that transaction or open a ticket to confirm.

What happens if I am late?

A reminder is sent first; continuing to miss payments can end the plan, and whether amounts already paid are refunded depends on the terms of that transaction. Put the dates in your calendar.

Can I pay each instalment from account credit?

Yes. Account credit can be used for instalment bills, and keeping the balance topped up is the simplest way to avoid missing one.

Please note

  • Choose instalments based on genuine cash flow. Stretching a plan over a longer period lengthens the commitment and increases the chance of missing a payment.
  • Each instalment generates its own bill and reminder. Keep the account mailbox working so the reminders actually reach you.
