Transferring a domain: the two numbers that decide it, 60 and 5

25/09/2026

When a domain moves in or out, two time limits are the ones most often overlooked.

60 days

Under ICANN rules a domain cannot be transferred again within 60 days of its registration or of the last completed transfer.

5 days

To move a domain away, the authorisation code (EPP/Auth Code) can be collected in the client area or asked for from us — we provide it free of charge within 5 days. As long as you have no unpaid invoices, we will not block the transfer out.

Checklist before you transfer

  • The domain has been registered for at least 60 days and is not in dispute or locked.
  • The registrant email address is reachable, so the transfer approval email can be confirmed.
  • The domain has been unlocked at the current provider.
