Most domains that sit unused are not abandoned because the owner changed their mind. They are abandoned because nobody said where to start. Pick a template first Choose by what the site is for rather than by what looks nice in isolation. A template sets the structure, and structure is the hard part; colours and photographs are the easy part. Then fill in the five pages that make a site usable Home: one sentence saying what you do and who for, plus one obvious next step. Services or products: what you offer, item by item, with prices or a way to ask. About: who is behind it, and how to reach you. Contact: a phone number, an email, a form - at least one place where a message actually arrives. Privacy policy and terms: if the site collects anything from a visitor, these belong on it. Point the domain at the site The builder gives you a record to add in the domain DNS. Add it, wait for it to propagate, and the domain starts loading your site. Then check it the way a visitor would Open it on a phone, not only on the desktop. Click every menu item and button. Send a message through the contact form to an outside mailbox and confirm it arrives. Check that the address bar shows a lock; if it does not, sort out the certificate. Two things that take sites offline later An expired domain, and an expired certificate. Turn auto-renew on for the domain, and put a note in your calendar for the certificate.
